I assume the usual CPU Mag Mad Reader Mod competition judged by CPU Mag and former winners.
Rules are the same as this however hardware prizes can and will vary:
http://forums.penny-arcade.com.....hp?t=98426
Quote:
Contest Rules:

1. Only one entrant per person (not per seat).
2. Your mod must be easily recognizable as a computer.
3. A case you have done the work on cannot be entered as someone else's.
4. A single person must be able to lift the case and carry it to the finalist area.

Judging Criteria: Judges' decisions are final and will be based on their observations regarding the following criteria. Each of the following categories is worth 25%

* Technical merit: Creative placement of parts and "outside-the-box" changes you have made to existing components or your case that are likely to have a positive effect on performance and/or that make for more efficient use of the space you have to work with.
* Artistic merit: Does the case have a cohesive theme or a distinctive look, or is it simply a collection of parts thrown together behind a window and lighted fans?
* Polish: The fit-and-finish portion of your work. This includes clean, smooth paint; solid cable management and sleeving/hiding; tight, smooth seams; the functionality of your mods (i.e. custom doors and mechanisms); and effective use of lighting.
* "Wow" factor: Judges' overall reaction to your mod.

and w00t! Perhaps I'll have my casemoded g33k box ready by then...

or maybe Vector will have our casemodded firewall server done too!

... Vector, can we enter the firewall into the casemod competition? Can it be made out of legos?

I just bought the "The Video Professor Teaches Modding" DVD set, actually on blue ray, so I should be ready to start modding.

Oh, I have that book as well. Reference Cherry X and Autopsy. The subject matter is quite limited to modding mannquins.

I don't remember there ever being a cost to enter the mod contest, other than obviously needing to pay to attend the LAN.

Showing yourself to be a tool. Nice job. Of course you don't have the balls to show up at the PDXLAN anyways. Why are you even a member of these forums? Your entire purpose is to be an a$$clown here.

I was wondering what he was talking about. Is he the one who is always trash talking and stirring up trouble in the forums? Why doesn't he get banned?

On another note - I am so glad you used the word A$$CLOWN because I told my wife this year that's what I wanted to be for Halloween and she didn't believe me there was such a word even.
I wanted to dress as a clown on my body and get a donkey's body sticking out the back. So I could be an A$$/CLOWN. Maybe next year.

Don't know how he is still here. I tried to be nice to him but some people are a waste. Sad thing is he only talks smack behind the keyboard (and I have met him in person - so I can see why this is).

Guys, I don't think fanning the flame is needed.

Pure, PDXLAN has never charged for the case mod contest.

He's been to several PDXLAN's that I can recall. Just not one within the last year or so.

I cant remember which lan # it was, but I distinctly remember you having to buy the antec 900 THEN mod that.

The case is still 100$ new.

Now I think this was done at the time to level the playing field for people who don't have lots of money or unlimited time and/or sponsorship.

But I think it ended up acting as an "entry fee"

Here is the original post by Vector, see rule 1
http://www.pdxlan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4493

Anyways, after reading this whole thread again just now I have answer my own question. Thanks!

DarthBeavis, its interesting to see you complain about people smurphing and then you do it yourself (in this very thread), perhaps you should practice what you preach.
