makes me sad imo, I miss the good old days of 24 hour gaming. Although back then that was the only time they opened the MMO's up. Shocked

I think it makes the lan more enjoyable. People aren't looking like zombies/smells better/people seemed to clean up after themselves better too rather than gaming and piling up pizza boxes and empty soda cans.

Also sleeping is nice Smile

I propose a shower pre and post sleep. The shower in the morning really wakes you up, and gets you fresh.

Some people really need 3 showers+ some days... Oh, and a shower doesn't count when you keep wearing the same stinky clothes! lol..

I shower usually 3 times a day at PDX.. (One in the morning mandatory, and usually one later on. Sometimes I'm too tired for a shower before bed though)

Anyway, I really like that it closes... Because I've been to 24 hour lans, and the thing is, is at the wee early times in the day, it might as well be closed... because everyone is a zombie and isn't much fun anyway... So, I agree that the closing schedule is a good idea.

Having witnessed alot of the evolution of this whole thing go down I would say that the close down is an overall good idea. I was feeling nostalgic for the 24/4 pdxlans a few days ago and was going to post something but then when I started putting all the pros and cons together it just added up to close down makes sense. With the close down you have a nice period of time where you don't feel that horrible, "i'm missng eight HOURS of the lan!!! I must wake up early or go to bed late to stave off sleep as much as possible."

It keeps everyone on a nice schedule, and therefore the servers are full when its reasonable for them to be full and your not missing anything when you inevitably pass out.

That assurance that your not missing anything is defiantly nice. I'm one of those who line up at 10am to get back in just because I can't stand to think I would miss something awesome XD

trust me, a 6 hour nap does everyone well. staying up for 24/48/longer straight just makes you really forgetful and you lose out on all the beautiful memories.

The key is (21 and over only!) get buzzed, come back play a few games, then you're totally ready to pass out by 4am.

EDIT: I DID NOT MEAN AT THE LAN, I MEANT AWAY FROM THE LAN. PLEASE DON'T BRING ALCOHOL TO PDXLAN LIKE THE LINK POSTED BELOW.

I was thinking about coming to PDXLAN 15 with a gas mask. If I walk by you that should tell you something.

Agreed. Showers make life calmer.

I don't know how anyone sleeps with all that caffeine in our systems though. It's some miracle of the gaming gods.

Wikipedia: It never lies! wrote:

The half-life of caffeine — the time required for the body to eliminate one-half of the total amount of caffeine — varies widely among individuals according to such factors as age, liver function, pregnancy, some concurrent medications, and the level of enzymes in the liver needed for caffeine metabolism. In healthy adults, caffeine's half-life is approximately 4.9 hours.

Caffeine can't last forever, unfortunately Sad it also has a wicked hangover/withdrawl

Am I strange that when I drink caffeine it tends to MAKE me sleepy? I tend to last MUCH longer when I DONT drink caffeine.. I think at PDX 14 I had a total of like.. 3 or 4 bawls the entire event. I've always been like that though... If I drink coffee, I feel like a nap instantly for example.. lol
