How I deal with BF3 load times Reply with quote
How I deal with load times in BF3. When I select join on a server, I then

put on my shoes, go to the car, drive to the pub, have a beer, get a

couple to take home, go home, make a sandwich, have another beer, releive

myself of the first 2 beers, then check to see if bf3 is loaded. Rinse

and repeat! Very Happy Laughing Cool

I hear ya on that!!! It takes entirely too long to load these damned maps. Hopefully the Crucial M4 I'm getting Wednesday will make my 'click on server, hit the restroom, then play BF3' habit a thing of the past. ^_^

I have an M4. It takes me about 8 seconds of load times per map. So I'm curious as to what this wait time you fella's are talking about is.

I have 1066 DDR2 and I don't have crazy long load times, I don't think they are about 8 seconds, but well under 30.

What kind of connection speed?

That's probably it. I'm on a 35MB line.

I think he's speaking of the initial first time load up. It takes awhile for me.

lol ... when I read "get a couple to take home" I thought:

"WHAT?!?! Why? Is he going to:
1) murder the couple
2) get kinky
or what?
Why is he only making 1 sandwich when he just brought a couple people home? Are they not hungry too?"

Then I realized it was a couple of beers.. makes more sense now... lol

The initial load time is what I'm speaking of. Once in server, load times are good. Very Happy I think it is a server side issue. Cool BF3 definitely ftw with long load times! btw, they sell beer to go at my pub but if the load times were longer, bringing home a couple, say Swedish blonde twins, to pass the time with, maybe play a game of twister! lol Laughing

I think it's more about disk speed than RAM or other system specs. I know on BF2, which also had load times best measured on a geologic scale, at LANs sitting next to Jeep he would get into game in at least half the time that it took me. My system was faster in every way (processor, RAM, video card, etc.) but he had a 10krpm velociraptor HD and I had 7200rpm "whatever was on sale".

Nowadays, I have an SSD and I don't consider BF3 load time to be slow in any way. Perhaps 10sec tops from "picked a server which miraculously did not fill up in the time since the server browser scanned it" to in-game. That is still more time than it takes for me to get killed once in-game, but it's not bad.

Try upgrading your PC Wink

I get into servers within seconds... (normally top 5 to load if changing maps)

I run a single solid state drive that isn't considered fast by today standards but still much fast then any old school hard disk drive Razz

If you upgraded to a SSD you would delete this thread... if you still have problems loading then you just don't know how to operate a computer and should just uninstall BF3. Laughing

My load times average 60 sec. Not really long, but long enough for me to make a joke about it! Laughing

I upgraded from a WD Black to a Crucial M4 SSD. I see no difference in load times for BF3. All my other games are crazy fast but BF3 still takes the same crazy amount of time. I just assumed it was a Sever side problem.

I am running an Crucial m4 128gb sata 3 drive and even after a fresh install of windows it still takes 10-30 seconds. But being that its doing so much I guess I am the only one that expects it.
