Ok so here is the scoop -

Govtman had a proc he wanted to sell or trade. I could have just paid the money and been done with it. However, I thought about all the times I've seen him win prizes and throw them back in the raffle for other people to win. That is awesome. Some people may not notice those things but I do and I file it away in my brain.

I decided to make him an offer of a trade for work on his case so I get the proc. He went for it. We basically agreed I would just paint his case and finish up a little sleeving. But, I had much more in mind. Razz

I wanted to trick it out completely so that he can have something to really show off. He is a great guy and is giving, so I want to give back.

So I made a plan and here we are. You have seen the awesome paint already, but I have a few details that will be of a surprise and add some personal touches.

First is some stencil work. Since we named it Dragon Blood, I thought it should have the name on it somewhere. So I am putting it on the side of the psu on one side of the case and on the video card on the other side, so that you will see the name through the windows. I will also be putting it on the front bezel where it used to say Silverstone.

Here is a pic of the name painted on -

I will be doing the video card next. I think it's an awesome font for the name.

And, I purchased a little something special for him as well. -

This is a bag specifically made for this case. It's really nice and has all the needed pockets for keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.

But wait,, there's more,, I have the bag at a shop right now getting his gamer tag embroidered into the side of the bag in the same font. And if they can fit it, the Dragon Blood name too.

So, I plan to walk into the lan with the bag in hand, and give it to him.

I wanted to etch a dragon into the side windows but I just don't have time. Confused

I wanted these things to be a surprise for him. If you stop by and see the case make sure to thank him for being a great guy.

Yeah Gov is a good ol fart. He helped me out during the scavenger hunt at 18. Nice peoples for sure and well deserved.

This looks amazing and Can't wait to see it all together. Keep it up.

More progress this weekend. I'm wiped out...

I cut the new windows for the sides out of some tinted acrylic. I hope it's not too dark Confused

Not much for case lighting options in this little thing.

I wanted to etch the dragons in them but I have no time.

I painted the cover and the front bezel, again.
This is just the base coat and isn't cleared, sanded, buffed, etc.

And I painted the Dragon Blood name onto the video card so it will show through the window.

I started assembling all the guts and I had already forgotten what a bugger it is to cram everything in there. Pics later.

So I'm done with all the sleeving, hardware is installed mostly, will be buffing it out I think on Wednesday. Complete it by Thursday.

One day to spare!! It's a new record!!

More progress-

I buffed out the pieces and they look great.

No more pits in the clear.

But I had an issue after I buffed the front bezel. I had left the end caps screwed on and filled the seam but unfortunately the one side doesn't have any support so if you push on it at all it cracks the paint! Argh!! So now it's a redo... again.

So I took the end caps off and sanded it back down. Painting it again right away.

I used a lot less clear coat this time to avoid the trapped bubbles again but I can't get it quite as mirror finish because I risk sanding through it. But it's still pretty dang nice.

All I really have is finishing the front bezel and running all the wires to where they go. I need to add some lighting somehow but it's a little tricky on this case. Confused

More tomorrow. . ..

Or you could do something like it would be possible to trick him to helping you carry your stuff in and make him carry it without him knowing it? would be funny then at last second tell him or something. Lol

I think I have an idea. Tell me what you think -

I'll have one under a blanket but it will be an old piece of crap beige box. I'll take a black marker and write " Dragon Blood" on it and Silverstone Sugo and stuff like that. Then I'll pull the blanket o ff right when he's salivating. lol

Then I can have the real one in the bag ready to go hidden.
