I want to throw these thoughts out there:
- in order to do 5v5 you will need 60 people (12 x 5) You need 12 teams at minimum at roll call.
- I know the way you "normally" play the game with 5 - but if you were to change it to 3v3 you would be good to go with 36 people. If this does not work for you, maybe you should consider an unofficial tournament?
I have NEVER seen so much organization in a group - I commend you for that! Let's get 60 people by June 1 or "call it"

Not much time left to get 60 people. What's the count at now? 38? Need 22 more people to sign-up if we want to do this. I wouldn't be surprised that there are people who are going to PDXLAN that don't visit the forums though. If you have friends coming, tell them to post!

If making it 3v3 was the difference between having and not having a tournament, I would be down with that.

I would personally prefer an unofficial 5 v 5 instead of an official 3 v 3. We only need 20 more people guys! Tell everyone to get on the forums and put their name in!

Even a 5v5 informal tournament would be cool. My concern, though, is that it would easily lose momentum. Last year I did one of the "official tourneys" and even in that case there were a lot of problems with players losing interest and dropping out half way through and things getting done in a timely organized fashion. I have a feeling that unofficial tourneys would suffer from this problem even more so. The tourney I did last year only had 14 players, a 5v5 unofficial tourney for LoL might have about 40 players involved (at least as this thread indicates). I could only see the problems I saw last year being much worse if this was unofficial. So imho, I would take the 3v3 official tourney over a 5v5 unofficial tourney. Then again, I haven't played in any unofficial tourneys at PDX, so I would defer to the opinions of any PDX lan veterans that have seen their fair share of official and unofficial tourneys.
So the questions that would have to be posed to vector would be:
-When is the deadline for trying getting LoL to be an official tourney at PDX? (Perhaps that information is easily found on this site, but I am a noob here and couldn't find it easily)
-In order to get an official 3v3 tourney on the bill, would we need to get everybody to sign up again on a list that was explicitly for the 3v3 tourney, or could we recycle the list of those who expressed interest in the 5v5 tourney?
Maybe somebody should make a poll off whether everybody would prefer an official 3v3 tourney or an unofficial 5v5 tourney? I dunno.

Last year, the unofficial LoL 5 v 5 tournament went well, or at least appeared to. As far as I know, there weren't any hold-ups or drop outs.

We would probably need another list. At least personally, I hate 3 v 3 Twisted Treeline, so I would not end playing.

Unofficial tourneys do just fine as long as they are planned ahead. Vector even commented earlier saying this is the most organized he has seen yet. Bodes well as long as we can get enough for a 12 team tournament.

June 1st is the deadline according to Vector earlier in the thread.

I'de say easiest to just use the same list and go from there.

Let's wait until we have a few more responses. No reason to think we would have to do a 3v3 at this point when we still have 2 weeks until the deadline.

I believe the only reason to have an unofficial tournament in the first place is if we can't get the 12 required teams in time. It's either a) 60 people for an official 5 v 5 b) 36 people for an official 3 v 3 tournament or c) Any number for an unofficial 5 v 5 tournament.

i know there are plenty of players that would be willing to participate that don't use the forums. I don't know if we can get community email from vector or something but it would be nice to have a way to let the people that don't normally use the forums to know about this too.
