| Full 500? |
|
Hey all - I wanted to let you know that I could make this a 500 person event yet keep the "style" of PDXNOV.
Still bring your own chairs
Still same hours
Still Fri-Sun
We'll see based on numbers if we need to increase it - but just throwing it out there that we could if we needed?

My first question would be.... if you can do a PDXNOV style where you bring your own chairs, why can't you bring your own chairs for the regular (pdxlan ##) LANS? If I remember correctly this was due to the amount of space in the aisles and the fire marshall.
Other than that, I'd say yes, I'd like to see a PDXNOV style LAN with 500 peeps.

Full lans have sponsor booths.. november doesnt. plus we would probaby not have the stage and staff would just be at tables.. frees up a good chunk of room..

If it makes it better in terms of financials for you then go for it. We know you will provide a great environment for us so any decision you make will be the right one.

As long as its the same style who cares if its 300 people or 1000? If you think you can get 500 people you might as well.

Monster was there last november. This lan is just about relaxing and getting your game on. There is still a raffle at the end like always.

I have to say, my only concern with increasing the ".5" style LANs to over 300 attendees is losing the small LAN feel that these events always had. Of course, I suppose with keeping the informal style in place (No staff stage, no sponsor booths, etc) it could all work out.
I just know the half-LANs have always been my favorite PDXLANs because they remind me about what LAN parties are really for, gaming & community. Even though all the other craziness at the other evens in tons of fun too

In the past there have been sponsors...can't have a raffle without em. Also, the November (formerly known as ".5s") LANs have traditionally had their focus on just having fun and gaming...typically that doesn't include tournaments or contests except for charity food drives. Of course, you never know when you'll be surprised with a slight change here and there.

The idea would be there would still be no tournaments, and a "for fun" event.
In addition, ".5" does not mean half(as in size), it means between in this case. IE 20.5 would be between 20 and 21.

The more the merrier as far as I am concerned. I think it will still have the "small LAN" feel due to the sponsors and such not being there.
