Finishing Metal Work Reply with quote
Our biggest challenge with this case was the shape we really wanted to change the look of the boxed test bench to something much more appealing.

Most of the metal work went to two pieces on each side of the case and one custom piece in the front grill
Here is the concept for the front. This will be mounted on 1/4 to 1/2 standoffs of the front.

The template was made with paper and then transferred to the metal sheet that also has transfer paper to make drawing the layout easier.

We then bent the metal by hand using what we had around the shop. (If anyone is selling a nice 36" box pan metal brake we would be interested!)

JB Weld is a fantastic tool since we don't really have the equipment to weld our seams

Here is a panel with the seam "welded" We will sand these down finish the secret mounting mechanism and paint the whole case with a beautiful automotive finish.

Last update before paint!

Panels getting a very light coat of body filler to take out any imperfections in the surface.

And a few shots of the final case design before paint.

and yes surprise that is a hinge hiding inside the windows for the side panel

Here are the finished pics

Since this was sponsored and so many companies stepped up to the plate we went ahead and put every logo on the back side of the case!

Update/benchmark Reply with quote
So I added an EVGA 980Ti SC+ and a Samsung 950 Pro 256GB NVMe drive.

FireStrike score = 20,190 21842 with stock CPU speed and only 12 gigs /triple channel RAM (one stick is bad). Not too shabby at all. A 99% score. A good place to start. Smile

Update!
This awesome case is still going strong, however I need to figure out active cooling for the mobo area without resorting to removing the "cowl induction" side panels. This thing gets HOT. If you happen to look way down to these archived LAN posts, let me know any idea you may have.

In keeping in line with the original sponsors, I've upgraded it with an EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2 PSU and EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 ELITE GAMING WHITE to really show off the paint and lighting. Many thanks to EVGA for everything!

Thanks to a raffle win at PDXLAN November 2017, the CPU will also be upgraded to an Intel i7-6950x!
