| Game changing Pyro update for TF2 |
|
"In addition to the three unlockable Pyro weapons, we've made a significant addition to the base Pyro flamethrower. By hitting the alt-fire key, the Pyro is able to produce a blast of compressed air that knocks enemies away, and redirects enemy projectiles. It’s a highly versatile tool, allowing Pyros to get away from nearby enemies after igniting them, to kill enemy soldiers with their own rockets, or to separate enemy Medics from their healing targets. In particular, it allows a skilled Pyro to contain an enemy invulnerability push, and even to separate the Medic completely if the surrounding terrain supports it."
I wonder what the rate of fire will be on this. The rest of the Pyro pack is on the link.

I entered a 24 man server today on a 2Fort rotation with gold rush. I kid you not, everyone on red team was a pyro...except one brave sole who was a spy.
Next server over half of them were pyros and some dude though it would be funny to say, "We need more pyros".

They seriously made the pyro a bit too powerful for my taste. The flames reach too far, do too much damage, and the blast should have a recharge time. Although it is fun to be pushed in the air over and over, it gets really old.
I do like the flare gun. The pyro was always too short range. Seems like they should have come out with the achievements for the classes that could really use it first, i.e. spy, engie. Just my opinion...

AFAIK they did not change the length of the flames, just made it so the burn damage does not exponentially decay. The blast takes 25 fuel, so you get 8 max with no flame usage, seems pretty balanced to me.
I do like the fact that the flare gun has range, but the damage is useless. Can't really hurt an engineer at all if he is near a dispenser, so the only situation where it is better than a shoty is to hassle a sniper, and even then it is more an annoyance than something that might kill them. They need to either up the flare damage or have it sit there and burn for a few seconds so you could block doors and such.

I don't know how many times I've been a good distance away from the pyro, and the flames reach me... Of course when I play pyro, I never seem to have any range... Sheesh

What if it's a wet noodle that does 2 damage with a full second recycle? I bet people would still work to unlock that.
