for the final weeks' teaser shot I am going to fast forward to...TODAY!

Finally got the missing link, and plumbed it all:

The entire watercooling loop sits above the GPU, linking the PA-160 to the BIP 120mm.

Loop is Pump>>PA-160>>down to the GPU>>up the CPU>>across to the BIP 120mm>>then into the pump.

Not the most temperature efficient in absolute terms, but once mixed and equalized, I doubt loop order has more than 2-4C effect.

This should be more cooling capacity than my 2X120mm BIP II Pro (the thinner one, not GTX) but not as much as a 3X120mm would be.

Thermal load is an E6700 (my QX6700 is either dead, or glitched) and an 8800Ultra both with DD blocks on them.

All other gadgets and wiring will now be finalized around the hardware...finally...geez...what was I thinking.

there is still work to do...this sucker is going to "Drive" yet!

In the meantime, here are the rest of the photos I took until I got absorbed in working totally.

While I retrench and figure out the electronics and suspension for the last time, I will take pics of the complete breakdown and build up detailing stuff I did along the way.

As many of you know, there are usually little things, compromises, invention, and destruction in many parts of my mods. Smile

Here was the first stage of cutting it down to the overall height I wanted. Most viewers presume I just cut the bottom off. I chose to cut the middle out instead...to save the rivet points, door catches, and bolt patterns all the way around the case.

The motherboard standoffs were not redrilled, but my mATX case was mounted, and I checked where I could cut the tray. The backplane was not made from scratch, but measured and checked to fit a double slot GPU and then trimmed down and reattached.

Smile Just a bit shorter than a stock Antec 900 eh?

Here you can see my scrap mATX mobo and inoperable 8800GTX for testing the size and fit. If I couldn't rivet it back together I filed it down to get proper fit.

That metal in the upper left is the plate and silver solder I used to join the two parts. While not perfect, it saved me from needind to add rivets in the tight spaced where the backplane and motherboard tray join.

More to post before work recommences!

then I had to move on to the rest of the structure:

And test fitting the other stuff just to be sure:

The tank portion:

I had to stiffen the lower chassis to keep it from flexing, twisting, and buckling.

Then I started forming the Fan into the top:

And Testing my Airsoft guns:

while hunting for the right R/C parts, I started working on the side panels.

I didn't cut EXACTLY in the center, but close enough to fix it with a trick I thought of you will see in the completed pics to come.

And I worked on mounting it to the Tank pan, forming an "H" shaped structure to keep it rigid lengthwise and spaces out width-wise to keep it square.

And back to working on the Side panels to join them together again:

A shot from the inside to show the uprights and the rivets I used:

I put the leading edge channel right behind the stock "cup" that seats with the front of the case. This gave me a nice machine folded line to work off of, and a good place to realign when I need to take it apart for painting.

Then I moved to fitting some of the other internal components just to be sure I didnt' have any clearance issues with that structure.

Bah! I never use PCI slots anyway.

I later moved the BIP 120mm uip a slot and stuck my dual webcams right above in the top slot. That will be shown later when I break the system down again to finish it.

With just a week before the LAN deadline, I finally got around to real installations and filling the water loop.

here are a bunch of "nearly finished" pics I took when I got back from the LAN.

Still have to figure what is wrong with the PC part, and fix the suspension problem with the tank treads though.

Paint, finish exterior, and finish seaming is shown.

For those of you asking how I covered up the seams in joining the top and bottom halves of the side panels.

Also useful for holding on the panel to take it in and out. Smile

A little BodsMods style styrene to make a pretty new cover for the top ports.

A little Markkleb smooth fan style coupled with MNPCTech turbine and billet topper.

A Dgephri exclusive design for skinning the fully automatic Uzi airsoft guts. Custom funnel feeder to keep the pellets moving while tilted (45 up or down) and a hopper just big enough to hold about 150 BBs each side.

I think they look like some sort of hypospray injector device. lol

Side view of the same. I didn't get the metal surrounds complete before the LAN, and painted them Saturday morning. I took my rivet gun the LAN to get them attached.

I made the PSU cover part Thursday night from Bodakker style Styrene.

Back edge of the seam cover piece.

This is a closeup from the back of the turret plate. I used hinges so I could lift it up and take the side panels off without removing the wired and all that junk.

The Turret housing has a hinge INSIDE so I can remove a couple hex bolts and open it up for adjustment without complete disassembly as well.

Other side (motherboard sidepanel).

Closeup of the Ball and socket R/C parts that Dexaroni tracked down for me. What a great idea that was! I had no ideo how I was going to solve that problem until he took me to Tammie's Hobby store.

Closeup of the Funnel feeder I fabbed up. Took 1" acrylic tube. Cut down a tiny TAP plastics funnel till it fit inside, then cut off the funnel tip until it fit the BBs diameter (6mm). When properly aligned it shakes while the gun fires, and feeds a pellet about 60% of the time. Much better than the original feeder mechanism in the $8 Uzi.

BB's eye view of impending shooting position.

Closeup of one of the Bay covers. I painted the original with the same White paint, put the Black foam backing in place, and threaded in some of my same 8-32 Button head Hex bolts to match the rivet patterns on the rest of the case.

The treads kind of disappear in the flash shadow, but this is a full on side view of the motherboard panel side.

Bill makes such cool accessories!

I know I could have painted my BluRay drive, and the housing is in fact powdercoated black from a previous mod, but I like the contrast...can't be ALL white IMO.

Yes, that is Stereo laptop 2MP logitech cameras for Anaylglyph webcams. Just haven't gotten to fire them up and program the vision routines yet.

Window side, showing inside a bit.

I am soooooo gonna shoot someone! With the R/C controls and vision I could even shoot my eye out (Xmas story, you all know it).

That is just about all for now...I am going to start draining the loop, breaking it down, and fixing the wiring issues and the suspension problem for 100% completion in the coming weeks.

I won't be going to Nvision, and knowing the competition there, I don't have a chance anyway (trust me on this, you know who you are).

That was second place? Beautiful work/ideas Jeff.

Wish you would try to make it to Nvision08. Bod is being anti social Laughing , but we have a few extra spaces in my group.

I love that fact that the ends of the uzi barrels are fillports, in a way it makes everything come together just that much more.

Gonna have to see this in person upon completion.

So yea, if this was 2nd what was first?

Actually, the gun ends are the original Uzi tips with orange paint and masked to paint the rest silver.

I just turned them around. Smile

Fillports with orange paint would be cool though!

Here is a link to some law text about airsoft safety markings:
http://www.airsoftforum.com/bo.....opic=10874

I would put mine the toy, not replica category "having the configuration of a firearm."

funyy story IMO:

I go over to a forum about R/C battle tanks, different scales up to 1:6 (HUGE) and I post up a question about my suspension and to see if anybody can point me to someone who could fabricate the suspension or gears or whatnot.

After a dozen views or so, I get this response:
"I have to ask this.

Why are you mounting your PC onto a tank?

I mean, how is it functional?
You can't use the thing while it drives around.

I love the humor and creativity and all but I don't get it. "

Smile
OK, as a modder, I am used to the blank looks, "why bother" and the rest of it.

But, in a forum, about guys who build, for fun, battery and gas powered replica tanks to have backyard battles with airsoft and paintball turrets? lolz

I appreciate the response, and his honesty, it just struck me funny that a participant in a hobby, just about as ludicrous as Modding is asking about functionality. Rolling Eyes
