Problem Transfering a ticket Reply with quote
We are trying to transfer a ticket for the 12.5 lan but i thought i was registered as sassycat3172, that name is not on the wait list, but... sassycat is. i am not positive this is the name i registered with and would hate for the person i am buying the ticket from to transfer the ticket to that account.

I tried updating the handle for this lan but it wont let me unless there has been a payment made.

See my dilema? i would like to know 100% that it is indeed my handle for the lan before the ticket is transfered.

Can this problem be resolved expiditiously?

Your update handle is not tied to whether you paid or not - so you are not doing something quite right... re-check it out.

Sassycat:

log out of your forums account, and make a new forum account. from that account you can re-register and use the name you want to use on the PDXLAN sign up list.

thats the quickest way I can think of that would fix your problem if you don't know for sure that the one already in the database is you.

Well Apparently something is wrong. I signed in, scrolled down to the area to the right, click update handle not Transfer Ticket and I get this Error code every time.

ERROR

You must be registered and paid to transfer your ticket.

Click here to register for this LAN.

EDIT

Ok here is the issue with the registration. I am registered, but have not paid. It does not show me, sassycat3172, on the wait list. A user with the handle sassycat (which could be me and more than likely is)does show up in the wait list.

A better solution to the issue i thinkm rahter than make multiple account, would be for me to unregister and re-register instead of cluttering the wait list with unused accounts?

I think this would be a more comprehensive and viable solution to the issue.

Is this possible? Question

Extra accounts is not a problem as the data only sticks around for a month or so.

sassycat3172 - The forum sign in is what controls the registration. Sign out of the forum and you will be able to re-register.

Vector/Spork - I just confirmed it, clicking on the "Update Handle" link for the lan brings you to this page; http://www.pdxlan.net/forums/r.....p?LANID=27
and it displays the following error;

ERROR

You must be registered and paid to transfer your ticket.

Click here to register for this LAN.

I do not want to start a new account!!! I need a new email Reply with quote
I can not register with the same email and i can not re register. I do not want to open a new account. how hard can it be to double check to find out what the problem is. There should be a way to unregister yourself right now from what i can see there is not.

The way i see it 3 things can happen:

1. Admin can verify that sassycat on the wait list 12.5 should infact be sassycat3172

2. Admin can find a way to unregister my current account so i can re-register and get this taken care of.

or

3. I end up paying for my ticket even though i have already paid Rantan for his ticket and then i let the Pdxlan operators hear about it from me in person. FYI, I will not be happy if this is what ends up happening!

Sorry if i sound alittle rude but i am getting really bugged because this could very easily be taken care of by an admin or operator.

None of the admins appear to be online currently, I am sure when one reads this they will be happy to help you.

Mr. Rogers there was an admin helping her and he basicly told her it was her problem and that she needed to figure it out herself. At least thats the way i took it.

I can understand her being upset when an admin wont take the time to help. and shrugs it off

He didn't basically tell her it was her problem. He told her that her handle was not showing if it was paid or not which means she was neither on the wait or paid list I assume, which means she was not doing something correctly. I imagine she is having some confusion between her registered account on the forum and registered name for the event. There is a sassycat on the wait list now, which I assume is hers. It should be a simple matter of transferring the ticket to it now. When vector sees this again I assume he will check to see if sassycat on the wait list is the same one.

However the admins don't just hang around waiting to help people out, they have lives so in the mean time patience Smile

Mr Rogers,
I understand that the admins have a life as do I. I appreciate your loyalty to the admins, but at the same time, I always use the same Handle Never do I use sassycat the 3172 is always added. If the Sassycat on the wait list is infact me, this is not my mistake it would be the mistake of the person that has set up the wait list. I am not going to take the chance and have Rantan transfer the ticket until i know for sure that it is me.

If you look at Mouse's reply about the Update Handle. It states:
Vector/Spork - I just confirmed it, clicking on the "Update Handle" link for the lan brings you to this page; http://www.pdxlan.net/forums/r.....p?LANID=27
and it displays the following error;

ERROR

The only thing Vector told me was that the Update Handle way not Tied (IE: related or connected in anyway) to the registration. The error found by Mouse which is the same error that i keep getting as well proves otherwise.

I do not feel I should have to make a new email just so i can start a new account with a new Handle.

Yeah I agree, I am just saying I am sure one of the admins will help out when they log on. But as it is really close to the lan I imagine they are quite busy.

For starters, we the admin run this Lan Party for fun. If the fun is taken out of it, we don't like doing it. Frankly, your tone is enough to turn anyone off from helping you. Please consider that before hitting submit on your posts.

1. You registered for both PDXLAN 13 and 12.5

2. You did not register consistently. For PDXLAN 12.5 you registered as sassycat and pdxlan 13 as sassycat3172.

3. You paid for PDXLAN 13 and have not paid for PDXLAN 12.5

4. The reason you get the error is because your 12.5 ticket isn't paid for.

5. Double check your info when you enter it to avoid future "issues"

Hope that helps... seems the registration system is working, but I will look into the PEBKBAC error. Smile

see now that wasn't to difficult. all it tookl was lighting a fire under your ass to get soemthing done.
take the fun out of it for you? the error was not on our end, it is a bug in the system you use. if the admins brush off the new comers how does it make it fun for us? tkae it for granted that you have 100's of people paying to got your lan but if you treat people like this its a wonder you have people sign up period.

you dont know the entire story as to why she is paid for 13 and not 12.5 and quite frankly its none of your business and for the sake of not making you look more foolish i wont post why.

Your original post stated she did something wrong and need to recheck it. How is her error that the site showed an error on our end?

please double check yourself and the error on your site before shrugging it on the user.

Thank you for your help.

Instead of flaming like I want to, I will instead clarify.

The person entered in the wrong data (i.e. their handle). Not the fault of the admins.

Now, I find it amazing that Vector replied twice in one day. That means that he took time out of his day to check up on the problem. I think it is great that the problem was solved as fast as it was.

There is a problem in the system where if you have not paid you can not change any of your information. Vector was just trying to point out what was going on.

It is a small bug, it only took three or four LANs to find it, and I am sure it will be taken care of in a timely manner.

You may not realize that people do not like to help you when you talk to them like that. But I am willing to bet that you are under 20. I can just hope that it is something you will learn as you get older.

YOu two have a real attitude problem . . .maybe PDXLAN is not the right place for you. I can image how much you will whine if you do not win the raffle prize you want or if someone frags you in a game . . .

somehow 500 people manage to get registered for each PDXLAN (or less than that for .5 events) . . .given the very small amount of problems I would say she probably is the source of the problem . . .
