I dont think you can run it as a service for bukkit. I am using mcmyadmin for remote management of the bukkit server. it helps alot but for some reason doesnt auto restart the server when it has a problem. I am not the only one having that issue with mcmyadmin.

Hmm...perhaps a service or script could be written to perform some kind of check to verify if the server is up every x period of time & if it's down restart it.

Teleporters have apparently all lost their waypoints, and the residence commands are all MIA...

Hopefully you don't have to roll things back at all. Sad

well residence is back up and running. dont know what the hell happened. We were getting an error that said, something like no special characters allowed. But it didnt say anything about where it was or what the character was. Sad

Dynmap is fubar right now, it works for PDXLan but it also is getting the same error message that residence was giving. Working on that.

Server may experience restarts during the day. If you are on I will warn about them before it happens.

Dynmap is back up now, shouldnt be any further restarts today.

Thank god for backing up the plugin folders. I still don't know what caused these errors. Anyone know a good file comparison program? One that can compare 2 different versions of the same file?

Notepad++ has a compare function.
Not sure why all the waypoints disappeared, but they rebuild okay, so it's not TERRIBLE. Just a long run for some of us Very Happy

Got most of they teleport/waypoints back. All the outpost points, some of my personal ones worked. Nitemayr was on and said his personal Teleports were working.

Sorry for the issue. It appears the server hard crashed right at the moment it was backing up minecraft this morning. So I added a couple of extra backups just before restart, hopefully that will make it less painful if it happens again at the same time. I will be investigating the hard reboot issue, but I wont have time until monday morning.

I logged out last night to the spleef arena being started and logged in this morning to see this huge coliseum-esque building towering above me.

I walked in and went up into the viewing stands, watched the sun rise through the glass between the pillars and was very impressed.

I love the open sky of this structure. The choice of material for the arena itself looks like the sands of the gladiator's arena.

I am feeling ready for battle. SPARTICUS! (if Sparticus were actually just trying to break the ground beneath his opponent).

Follow up idea:

Have competitors enter from opposing sides of the arena, but only allowed to enter by a controlled gate, which is opened by someone serving as judge. It's all about the bread and circuses.
