Star Wars - The Old Republic

So, I was in the latest SWTOR beta last weekend. It is a pretty damn good game. Good story kept me hooked on playing thru the jedi quests, made lvl17 after long hours saturday, sunday, and monday. Messed with the trooper, and Smuggler classes also.

As I said the story kept me hooked. This is a big thing for me as I am not really into PVP, or RPG ussually anyway.

The Visual design of the game was pretty stunning, but relatively low fidelity. Didn't look bad, but the textures were not real high resolution. They looked really good, but almost flat. I played on a 2600k with GXT560ti @ 2560x1600 with all settings maxed and never had any low frame rate issues.

One thing I missed was, there was no action queue like in KOTOR. You can only do one action at a time, and not queue up follow up actions.

looking forward to wasting more time on SWTOR!

Yes, the game is pretty dang good. I got in the Beta two weekends ago, and played to level 3. At that point I realized I did not want to play anymore until Retail. I don't want to spoil anything in the game. I'm not a power leveler, and I enjoy the story. Smile

Yea, I agree. I played both a Jedi and Sith Assassin this weekend, and loved both story lines. I have never been into MMO's but I really think this one has me sold.

I was disappointed, I came from the background of KOTOR and Mass Effect and was hoping that this game would be similarly engaging.

It looks more like WoW than anything. The textures are really low-res, combat is extremely clumsy, and the first several levels of gameplay bored me.

I'm somewhat glad actually, I don't need a never-ending game to get addicted to. Smile

Galaxies was complete garbage.
It was garbage from day 1 of its launch, and continues to be garbage to this day because of a horrible engine, boring combat, uninteresting world that focused more on dancing in the cantina and decorating your house than being fun at all... and it was made by SOE which automatically makes it horrible.

I don't see how you can compare SWG to ToR aside from the fact that they both have "Star Wars" in their title. SWG was like a horrible The Sims version of Star Wars where as ToR is more like what a Star Wars MMO should be.

I love the story, light/dark side options, single player RPG aspects of ToR, and I've played in three of its' betas and I love it more each time I play it.

Can't wait for Dec 15th!

Galaxies I can say was really bad, I played it at launch and played Galaxies for 8 months. Nothing remotely is like SWTOR. Galaxies had a crappy game engine, ran like crap, and looked like crap.

I thought Galaxies was great until the nerfed the combat system and PVP. Graphically, at least based on the first part of this new game, it is very bland and not up to what a current game should look like. Ages of Conan, for all its problems, was a beautiful game. Bring me a Star Wars MMO with Skyrim quality graphics and detail then we can talk. maybe I need to play more of the game but thus far not impressed . . .maybe you can share your fan boi love of it and sell me on it . . .

MMO + Skyrim quality graphics. Would rock, but it might not currently be possible. might introduce to much lag and load time to make it really playable.

SWTOR has essentially no load time between areas of a planet. From planet to planet there is some load time, but not much. I love it.

YAY! This means I did a good job submitting issues found in the game. That was the criteria for a return to the beta testing! Just doing my part to make sure we all have a good time when the game finally comes out.

This time I am going to focus, on either the trooper or smuggler storyline.
