MAC G5 - Project Black Orange
After a few years of wanting one of these cases... finally I got one.
Project outline:
1. Strip the case clean, mark the cuts
2. Surgery to fit the new MB tray(Lian Li PC-6X)
3. Sand the case / paint
Top/bottom handles and side panels will be orange/black
Inside of inside cage black
Outside of inside cage will have carbon fiber vinyl
Air cooling

What are you gonna do about the rivets that hold the legs/handles on? I was gonna pull my case completely apart, but I didn't have time or space to paint it. Nice tear down though. We have a G5-to-PC support group from goin crazy over all those damned screws.

> There were two rivets on the inside cage where the PCI cards go... but they won't be needed anymore since there will be a different MB tray.
> There are no rivets that connect legs/handles panel to the inside cage, just a lot of friken screws.
> The inside cage does have a few rivets but I won't be taking that apart.
LOTS of screws, now I know why these MAC's are so expensive...

Thumbs up to a fellow G5>PC modder.
One thing you'll realize, these cases are smaller on the inside than they look

Did you get any farther in this mod? I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out.

Because our gonads are male - not female.

UPDATES:
The cage will be covered in the 3M Di-Noc CARBON FIBER FILM
http://www.mnpctech.com/Carbon.....anium.html
I will be filling all of the holes with some aluminum/metal filler.... trying to figure out what is the most cost effective way.
Also will have a cover that will mask all of the cables in the back of the case.
Most likely I will have some sort of orange custom painted theme on the outside of the case, feet and handles.
Since the original power switch will be there no more it will be replaced by a vandal switch:
Delrin Vandal Resistant Illuminated Switch Black - 22mm Orange Ring (VSW-BK-RING-OR)
http://www.performance-pcs.com.....s_id=22159
CD-ROM will be fully functional.
95% of the cooling will be done through the bottom of the case.

you sir are a genius. I have been racking my brain for what I should do to my NZXT Vulcan. After seeing the great look of the carbon fiber film, I've decided to wrap my whole case in it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Got the parts...
i7 2700k
16Gb RAM
I will use the power supply as the case exhaust... really curious how this is going to work... we will see
will use small black screws not the thumb ones
intake hole
had to cut the top plate that used to hold HDD and CD-rom now it holds just the CD-rom and will have to figure out how to mount the HDD
This is what I am envisioning for the paint...
Again the inside cage will be fully covered with carbon fiber
I will do a clear gloss coat once done painting
