HAHAHAHA you guys crack me up.

Hey, poop is funny. It just is. Razz

I had a hell of a day getting the front bezel for this thing painted today. I am so tired I swear I'm delirious. I started to put the base coat on and noticed a tiny, tiny imperfection, so of course I had to mess with it. Bad idea. It became bigger real fast. SO now I had paint in the gun, waiting, and I had to make a choice. Spray a heavy coat of base and see if the imperfection blended, or, sand it back to bare metal and start over... very quickly.
Since I had the last of the paint sitting in the gun, I took the safer road. Back to metal it went.
The good news is that it was the right choice. The primer went on pretty smooth, wet sanding it went smooth, base coat went on flawless, and the clear went on beautiful. I may not even need to buff it. We'll see in the morning.

Also today I picked up the Sugo bag from the embroidery guy. He said it was a real pain in the arse because of all the padding in the bag. I wouldn't let him tear the bag apart and restitch it so the turkey ended up charging me double! Oh well... it came out super!

I do believe Mr. Govtman will be very proud sporting his rig in this personalized carrying bag.

Behold... I give you the Dragon Blood bag -

And he matched the font so it really takes the cake -

This is a great bag. It has pockets everywhere and it's lined with tons of padding.

So hopefully tomorrow I will be mounting the front panel and running the wiring. A couple little other things and it's ready to rock!

Sleepy time for me now .. Bye. Cool

Oh wow!! Did you call yours Dragon Blood?? Everyone loves dragons... I think.

Well I had a very productive day today.

I let the paint cure overnight and buffed everything out today. It's so pretty!! It is so shiny and smooth that you can see every dust particle, finger print, etc. I'll be providing a microfiber cloth for him to keep wiping it down.
Razz
It's so smooth that I actually think the air may be scratching it. Slight exaggeration of course. I think he will be pleased.

Here is a shot of the cover and the front bezel together. You can see the reflection in both pieces.

I mounted the bezel and started doing wire management. I am stealthing the drive too but I need to drill a couple mounting holes since I have to slide it back so far. It will barely work since there is very little room in this case.

It's looking a lot cleaner -

And I thought it might be a good idea to fire it up since I shortened all the psu wires. It works!! yay

I added some lighting but I didn't get any extra cables for the psu from him when I picked this up so I will have to plug it in at the lan I guess. Confused

Next I'll be mounting the new windows I made to the shell and testing out the final fit.

This is a very beautiful machine now. This color looks really elegant. He said he wanted subtle and I think I kept it fairly subtle but I was able to personalize it and keep it clean.

I hope to have enough time for some glamor shots before it gets handed over.

Somebody skipped to the end ^^^^ lol

I use PPG Automotive paints. More specifically, I use Deltron Acrylic Urethane 2 stage. It can be applied and then just left alone becasue it's a superior grade but I want it to be mirror smooth and the only way is to cut and buff.

So as a final step once assembled I will use a car polish to protect it and make it gleam.

Cool

Laughing

That pretty much sums it up right there.

He he. I wondered if anybody caught that.

So I need some opinions.. I have mine but I want yours too...

I made the windows tinted but they are a little dark with no lights inside the case to show it off. I can use clear windows but they don't look as nice I don't think.
I want to put lights in the case but there isn't much room or mounting locations. But I have it figured out now, only I don't have lights to install by tomorrow. I mounted a tri led lazer and then discovered it's a UV light and not white like I thought it was so I'm not sure it will do squat.

Tell me your thoughts...

Tinted -

or

Clear -

Confused

I love the tinted, but it does need lights, the effect of turning them off and not being able to see inside the case appeals to me.

What light do you need? I mean is it something that could say be picked up in Portland by say me? And if so do you have it setup to just be mounted quickly?

Or second thought... Just an idea from a noob to modding but... What if you were to frost the window but left just the area around key points of interest like day the dragon blood design on the card completely visible.. Kinda like dragon breath fogging up the window? like I said noob idea lol

I think ultimately what I would like to see is a much lighter tinted window so he can have the best of both worlds.

For now I think I'll go with the tinted and add the lights at the lan. I will haz lots of tools with me. It might look ok with these windows once I add some light.

I was going to use some LED light strips that were super bright until I realized there is nowhere to put them. Confused

I'll leave it up to Govtman once he weighs his options.
