| DamnLAN is LIVE, May 17th-19th |
|
It has been a while since the Pacific NorthWET has had a dose of the LAN Party called DamnLAN and the withdrawal symptoms have been widespread...A dull look of the coat or loss of fur, Lethargic behavior and no interest in chasing a Frisbee, dragging of the hind quarters across the carpet, Hairy Palms, ect. In an effort to quell this epidemic, we have consulted the 'Apothecary Labs for the Treatment of the Bored Gamer'. If you are displaying any of these symptoms or if you just have an Itch (so to speak) The treatment and limitations of that extensive research are outlined below to cure your 'Ales'.
60 MAN LAN
WHEN: Activities will commence at 6PM Friday May 17th and end at Noon on Sunday May 19th. Arriving early will only enslave you to setup duties and banter with admins and/or early libations and dinner at Tug Boat Annie's, our in-house Bar and Grill.
Where: Viewpoint at Westbay Marina ( http://tugboatannies.com/meetings.html) 2100 West Bay Dr NW, Olympia, WA. We are on the 1st level, the restaurant is on the second level.
http://tugboatannies.com/directions.html
What do I bring?: Your Computer, Screen, Keyboard and mouse...a mouse-pad is advisable, Headphones(Speakers are prohibited) all associated cables including Network Cable (25' advisable), Power Strip (Some will be provided...not all), Snacks (Small Cooler is allowed), Beverages. You are Allowed 36" of table space, please plan accordingly, please be courteous of the people around you and respect their space. A change of Clothes is strongly suggested, especially if you are doing multiple days of the event. (More on that below...)
Console Gaming?: We will have an area designated to Consoles and Movies, times for each will be scheduled. Usually the guys up north bring a ton of that stuff with them so you might want to wait and see before you tear down your entertainment center. Rock Band has been very popular in the past with all the accessorizes, be prepared to hear this going on for hours at a time.
Is Alcohol allowed?: YES, Drinking is allowed IF: You are of LEGAL AGE (21 and UP), If done in moderation, If you are not making trouble for guests, staff, or ANYONE or ANYTHING. Your sobriety is your responsibility until we notice or hear that it is not within an acceptable range, at that time WE will determine your sobriety and if you fail our test you will be expelled from the LAN and not allowed to return until you are sober to our satisfaction. Then you will be allowed to retrieve your personal property and be escorted out by our security...NOT TO RETURN...EVER!
What if I need a Latte or Espresso?: Volcano Vapor Cafe will have a coffee stand IN THE LAN. You can order whatever you want, However you want it, all at a very reasonable cost. These guys KNOW coffee and their product is better than you may have ever tasted...If you are a Coffee fan then look no further and put your fears of withdrawal to rest.
Cost: $30 in advance, $35 at the door. This will include a group dinner at Tugboat Annie's on Saturday Night from a NOT TOO limited menu, ( http://tugboatannies.com/menu.html ) If you care to team up with 2 other friends or guests at the event (3 People attending DamnLAN) you can order the famous "Barge Burger"(See Description Below), We will however not cover beverages at that dinner so plan accordingly. Bug will have the event link setup right away and you can register.
THE BARGE BURGER
A family favorite! The Barge Burger is made from 5
of our regular hamburgers and served on a Wagner's
Bakery bun about 10” in
diameter. We promise they are
big, good, and a fun change of pace. Enjoy!
Served on a Cafeteria Tray surrounded by a HEAP of Fries
BACON CHEESE BURGER
WHERE CAN I SIGN UP?: Follow the link to http://damnlan.net and get your place reserved.
Other Information: The Restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for the duration of the event ( http://tugboatannies.com/menu.html ) You can also rent Kayaks ( http://tugboatannies.com/kayaks.html ) or if you have your own Kayak or Paddle Board you can launch right at the Dock. Our Waterfront location is blessed with stunning views and quiet places to relax. The nearby Olympia Downtown is dappled with Restaurants, Bars, and activities of all kinds. See a play, take a walk, pick up Babes, whatever your capable of is within a short distance.
There are Hotels within 5 minutes of the LAN, but if you are a bit more of a spartan type we will be allowing sleeping bags inside the LAN when you want to grab a bit of sleep, pitching a tent inside the event venue is prohibited (Yes...someone did it last time )
There are showers for travelers and 'stanky' gamers here at the marina so you want to make sure that you are clean, well groomed, and free of offensive odors. THIS IS A RULE NOT A SUGGESTION: If you are found to be offensive then you will be asked by the staff to take care of it (Shower and change) Be considerate of those around you.
Volcano Vapor Cafe will also have a counter setup for those that wish to try the many flavors and equipment that they offer to those interested in sampling this superior alternative to smoking. This is a free service provided by Volcano and we encourage everyone to have a try. My favorite is Kiwi flavor but Cafe Mocchiato might be more of your style. What!?!?! A LAN in Maui on the waterfront with huge burgers? I vote you call the DAMN thing MauiLAN. Or maybe PineappleLAN if you're into kitsch.
But I'll totally be in Olympia the weekend before for some DAMN event.

Could it be? Oh man! I remember having a real DAMN good time awhile back. I still remember the first one I went to which was awesome! I missed quite a few but not missing this one! 3 freaking LANs before July is out is going to be interesting for me.
Fossil/Bug, if you guys need help with anything be sure to hit me up. Is the website/registration live? I'll probably harass you guys when I get back home and set the money aside. Hopefully there's no painting involved /wink

MORE details added, however, the Bugster is code challenged at the moment since Joomla and GoDaddy has thrown down the gauntlet and played havok with the sweet little website he had put up for us some time ago. Updates are a smurf!
We will have it up soon so hang in there...

Due to a coincidence in my class schedule this term it looks like I'll actually be able to make this one. That makes once in how many years?
What does the power situation look like? Is it plentiful or should I plan on leaving my 30" monitor and quad GPU rig at home?

Figuring power based on 20 amps for 6 computers. Power should be fine as long as everyone is plugged into designated connections, 36" of table space makes it seem possible. Sounds like you should just consider what you want to haul around.
