Face Tracking / Roborealm / Python / Open CV Reply with quote
Anybody here have any background in either of these?

It seems there is a lot to it. I was thinking about a cool project like this one where he made a USB missile launcher work with a web cam -

You could make some pretty cool stuff using this. I saw a guy that had a paintball gun robot too that used something similar.

I want to set up my web cam so it tracks movement. Actually it already has face tracking but I want it to draw a square around a moving object and show that on the monitor.

I haven't played with the arduino stuff. It seems like I should just have to use on of those programs but I'm lost on this stuff. Crying or Very sad

when I was working with Roborealm there were tons of guys who had already done exactly what you are trying.

There were Scripts to estimate Center of gravity, recognize shapes, add a shape to the Center of Gravity, and then draw it on the screen while tracking X/Y.

It was tricky to get them analyzed in the right order, but loading an existing script and then tweaking it for your own preference was the easiest way back then.

Thx for the links DB - I'll check them out.

@ Dgephri - I can't tweak anything. What is a script? lol I'm totally an idiot when it comes to this stuff. Imagine explaining this type of stuff to a grandparent. Now replace "Bob" with the word "grandparent" .
That's what we are dealing with here. Razz

I know I can figure it out if I try hard enough but I'm busy with other stuff that's why I'm willing to pay.

Is there a way something can be written and then I just download it and hit RUN?

Let me see what I can find. Not going to accept pay though. Maybe exchange paint work.

RR uses Basic script language in a module you load up in a "logic order" (my word, not theirs).

Say script #1 analyzes X vs Y width and then applies an algorithm (in the script) to determine a fair approximation of Center of Gravity.

Then script #2 applies an on screen filter to the Camera feed to indicate the X/Y coords of the CG.

Then script #3 draws a shape (circle, box, cross, etc) centered on the X/Y.

Then script #4 outputs that shape into the camera feed for display in a certain color (255,255,255 color code).

while I didn't write scripts I did far enough to modify most of the example scripts to enable tracking of colors, shapes, and Center of Gravity. It might take your 20 hours of trials, but it can work very well.

trainable but RR can do similar things...I can imagine you would pick what you want to happen on each recognition, but you have to code your own shape/action.

can potentially track individual elements of each face, kind of creepy IMO
