Yeah, I'm debating a similar (albiet smaller) setup on mine and how it would appear/work/annoy in the LAN environment....
I might make a solid wall on the back side of my LAN stand to keep from annoying everyone behind me...

Mine's a 23" monitor, so I'm 'hoping' I can contain it all, but we'll see. Worst-case scenario... leave it off if it bugs people.

True, true... You could always flip them around and then sit and look at them... you'll know pretty quick if they're annoying.

they point upward at an angle so i dont think there would be any glare, but i will be bringing the switch to turn them on and off.

Leave 'em on for a while Friday, give them a rest later in the evening, rinse and repeat each day. At least you're brining a switch to shut things off if someone does have a problem. That's always appreciated.

I feel sorry for the poor soul who has to sit behind those especially if the weather gets warmer.

What about using a simple tri-fold cardboard presentation piece as a backing.
That would let you ensure that you're not completely blinding whomever is behind them, and still give the glow effect you're looking for.
Just a suggestion.

Painters tape over the LED. If I sat behind you with that I'd be pretty upset at night.
