We've had Demo posts, just figured I'd make a retail version Thread.
I have the 360 version, but, been playing the PC version out at work~

So how all of you liking it? I'm loving it, only gotten to telekenisis so far (Have to re do it since I saved to the wrong account >.>) Getting the shotgun is awesome. Love the voices, sound is really well done. The time and art is also awesome I love all the posters and signs that you can read.

Was impressed with the metascore on Steam being higher than both HL and HL2.

Another good game from the makes of System Shock Very Happy I gotta go get those 2 games again.

I bought the game for X360 and played about 6 hours last night. I have to say that this game is absolutely AWESOME! The environment is VERY immersing. It makes you feel like you're actually in Rapture. There are a few "scary" scenes that are really cool. Lights go out and you hear scurrying a few feet from you but when the lights come back on there's nothing there.

The Plasmids, Tonics and Upgrades are just freaking sweet. I find that I use my Plasmids more than my weapons. I have an upgrade on me that lets out some serious lighting if anything touches me. I can be walking around and see the lightning, then look at the ground being me and see two dead bodies Smile The story is very cool, but so far there isn't a whole lot of development in what's going on. It's the type of thing where you start out doing something small and a whole lot of crap happens to you along the way. Listening to people's Audio Diaries gets you a lot of the backstory of what's going on.

The Little Sisters and Big Daddies are a great part of the game too. The Little Sisters collect this resource that you need and you can choose to kill them and take all of what they have or rescue them and let them give you a little. I've rescued all of 'em so far as I am trying to get a Live Achievement for it. Even rescuing them is a bit disturbing. You pick up the girl and she's screaming "No no no" with a sadistic look in her eyes. Then you calm her down and turn her back into a normal little girl and she thanks you. Big Daddy fights start out really cool but then get pretty easy. But, that's kind of how all the enemies are in the game. A little ways in you get a camera that lets you take pictures and analyze enemies. By taking more pictures you can do more damage when you shoot them. If you max out the meter once you get Damage++ against the enemy. Max it out again and you get a Plasmid or Upgrade related to that enemy. Max it out a third time and you get Damage+++ meaning you can take it out really easily.

All of the machines (except for Gene Pools and Gatherer's Gardens) are hackable. If you hack a vending machine then the items you buy from it are cheaper. If you hack a turret or security bot then they fire on enemies. You can also hack security cameras so that they don't see you and set off alarms. Everything in this game is so complex and involved.

The developers really thought things through and put a ton of effort into developing the world of Rapture. I NEED to play more! Smile

Its all about picking up someones corpse then throwing that at another enemy

Yes HL2 did the same thing at the end but still. I still love doing that Smile

I'm about 75% through the game, and my jaw has been permanently anchored to the floor for the entire duration, thus far. My expectations were pretty high because I was a HUGE fan of System Shock 2, and I feel this game has easily surpassed said expectations. Sure, there's really nothing all that groundbreaking as far as the game engine goes (although the water effects are beautiful) -- but the game just screams pure class and style.

Game of the year? Easily.

I played through the Medical building level, and I've been very, very impressed. The graphics are outstanding. Compared with the DX10 effects that bog down my machine (E6600, 8800GTS, 4GB ram), Bioshock runs pleasently smooth. I have yet to notice a hiccup. The attention to detail here is just ridiculous (water droplets on the screen when you get wet, water effects in general, flame effects, interaction with the environment, details in the environment such as music snippets, signs, etc).

I'm playing through on "medium" difficulty.

I finished the game last night. It ranks up there as one of my favorite singleplayer experiences. I think it took about 10 hours to get all the way through while trying to unlock as many achievements as possible. I want more. I don't care if it's a sequel or expansion. I want more. I think I'll play through it again at PDX.

What is the replayability like? Can you play through multiple times and have different games or is it fairly linear?

I'd say you could play through it 3 times or so and have a different experience each time.

If that's the case i'd be down for some coop action ANYTIME. This game would ROCK with coop like System shock 2 did

So, I've been reading on the web about the DRM thats used in this game.

Thought I'd ask, has anyone had any problems with it?

Oh god, good ol' SS2 coop. That was G00D times! Hell, I still have all the stuff to make it happen. Smile

I am guessing the answer to our question is no... as no one has replied about it.
