| The Jolly Soon to Be Lit Up Green Giant (56k Warning...) |
|
So I found this case for sale on craigslist. It's an older enermax server case and from what I can tell by the pics its huge....
Cost me $40 bucks...
Makes my Aurora look like a matx case.
All the crud it came with...
Solid metal front panel...
Strawberry Soda is so leet...
Heres 2 pics comparing the panel thickness between my aurora which is aluminum and the huge arse-case which is steel.
Aurora ^^
Massive case ^^
This is what the mesh looks like that I have.
Heres where it came from
New toy!!!!!!!!
Fun stuff Look at all those sparkles
Waiting on U channel and mesh filters to cover up those cuts...
Got the mesh cut for the front door. Looks pretty sweet
Let me know what you all think so far.
At the moment I'm cutting the side panel for the mesh "window"...
I also have a set of wheels for it in the mail with which the total height will be 33" give or take.

Areas have been slightly sanded to get rid of deep scratches.
Will be picking up a powered orbital sander in the coming week to sand down both panels.
Mesh is only taped up to show how it will look.
Will be getting u channel tomorrow to tidy up my cuts, which weren't half bad...
Obligatory Strawberry soda...
Obligatory Strawberry soda...
OoOoO it's like 3d'ish
That be some thick sh*t
Work area... Yes, it's in my living room, don't have a garage here...

That's the same model case I had for quite a while, it held (at it's peak) 12 hard drives and a fully watercooled dual Opteron system.
That same system now serves as the house firewall/file server/misc box.

Nice spork.
The case is definitely heavier duty than any other case I've ever cut up.
So far in just cutting the window and the grills out I think I've gone through something like 30 cut off wheels.

I really like what you did with the front door. I don't like door's on my PC's, but that looks slick.

Then I'll take a page from prince's book "The Case Formerly Known As The Jolly Soon to Be Lit Up Green Giant"
Anyways, thanks for the constructive post
Also after looking very closely at the Danger Den case, I was not able to find the word Jolly, nor a trademark symbol so my name is completely in the green. (so to speak)

Got the stuff from Petras last night
Here are the kama bays installed for a not so quick mock up shot....
Looks pretty sharp. And yes I know the darn beige hdd box is cheesy, but I didn't feel like tearing out my dvd drive for a picture.

3 sets of green cold cathodes.
and I'm getting custom vinyl decals made of the Petras logo in bright green for the front and side panel.
6x6" for the front and an 8x8" for the side panel above the mesh window.

 |
I'll have to pass on that I think.
Not quite in my budget/style.
BTW . . .I really do like this build. |
Glad to hear it.

A couple new pics showing the radiator hole in the bottom and the totally stripped chassis with the u channel molding on the fan holes.
Also the Game case is there for perspective.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't realize how stupid my camera focus is behaving. = Reason why pics = blurred
Heres just an idea of the size difference between it and say a common mid-tower, specifically the antec 900.
The red square int he pic is the same size as the one in the second.
Crazy huh?
