This is related to the power supply question. How do I pay for two seats through paypal and make sure they are together as well?

use this forum account you posted for seat 1

make another forum account for seat 2..

so dimper84 is what you posted with (paid on this for ticket 1), you say make an account called dimper2.. you then buy the 2nd ticket on that account.. use the same info when making the account and registering.

come the lan we will see two seats under your name one with your handle and then one with like the dimper2 as a handle..

If you got any questions, post, or if your @ 13, just hit the help desk up with your question..

To add to this about making sure they are together (because they have to be next to each other to combine the power):

Try to buy them both at the same time or buy early so you know you'll be able to get two seats next to each other.

they can be across from eachother as well. Next to eachother DOES NOT mean you share power!!! Seats have to be in the same group of six Wink

So as long as I buy two seats I am good to get a 1000 watt power supply in. Do they even need to be together. As long as I have paid for two seats does that not mean I am paying for 1200 watts total?

They have to be together because of how the power is laid out. tables are in groups of 6 as far as power goes, 3 on each side. each seat is alotted 600 watts for that particular group.

example:

ABC || DEF||GHI||JKL
MNO||PQR||STU||VWX
ABC/MNO are in one power group, DEF/PQR are another, etc. if you buy two seats in the same power group you should be fine. if, for instance, you buy seats C and D, it will not work because they are on two different circuits.

Edit by vec: Made seats/pwr correct.

So 6 seats X 600 watts = 3600 watts / 120 volts = 30 amps ... when I'm at the LAN I see cords running to each group that are 12 awg rated for 20 amps...... Someone help me here..... so if everyone would draw there alotted 600 watts would we be trippin breakers.... are the breakers single pole 20 or single pole 30 amp ?

The rule sis the rule, just worry about that and you will be fine. Let us worry about the rest.

Besides, a 600W power supply is not 100% efficient.

Why does it seem that every lan people ask the same questions regarding power usage.

We did a test a few lans back and most people's computers were running much lower power usage than what their power supply was rated for. I've been to all but the first pdxlan and as i recall we have only had 1-2 times where power became an issue because people were doing stupid things like daisy chaining powerstrips.

If you have a beast system in which you know you need two seats then buy two seats, if you are even questioning it at all buy two seats, make sure they are next to each other and enjoy the extra raffle tickets and space.

Well, the answer to your question:

is because we get at least 150-250 new people each time - that's ok, I just wish they would trust that we've been around 6 years now...that's got to say something.. Wink

Everyone should have their rig hooked up to a Killawatt so they can see their usage in real time. At the moment I am using 694 watts including my rig and my 60" DLP.

Just played a little FEAR2 . . . maxed out at 900.
