What are Group Seats?

  • "Group Seats" were started as a way for people with 12 or more people to sit with one another. Group seats come with no perks and cost the same as a regular ticket. The one advantage that group seats have is that they are seated first. In 2015 we began limiting groups to 50% of the event's capacity and ranking them based on their attendance from event to event. Since June of 2017 PDXLAN has begun turning new groups away as the number of groups it has is twice what we can fit into the 50% of the LAN's capacity.

When should the group Captain email Vector?

  • If you are a group captain in an established group make sure you email Vector 1 month prior to registration going live for the event you want tickets.
  • If you want February tickets, Email Vector in the month of June.
  • If you want VectorLAN tickets, Email Vector in early October.
  • If you want Summer tickets, Email Vector in January.
  • If you want November tickets, Email Vector in April.
  • It is a group captain's responsibility to email Vector. ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )

When will ticket prices be announced?

  • We don't always announce them ahead of time, but generally within $5 of the ticket price the following year.

Can I still email to be put on as a group?

  • At this time PDXLAN is no longer taking new groups.

What does a Group Captain have to do?

  1. Collect the money for their group
  1. Collect the LAN Reg email addy for each member in their group
  2. Paying for the tickets at least 2 hours prior to registration going live to the public
  3. Transfer each ticket to the person sitting in the chair
  4. Ensure that no member of their group has a (num) next to their name in LanReg. See good/bad example below. If a person has more than on ticket in their name, send them here

How does it work?

  1. Two weeks prior to the event registration we will begin emailing group leaders that contacted us via email We will begin filling the LAN to 250-300 seats. Your group leader will be contacted when it is their turn to select seats, or if the group allotment of seats is all taken by more senior groups.
  2. If your group does not get in, your group leader should contact each group member and plan to register when public registration goes live. At this point, your group is given +1 to their rank.
  3. If your group does get to book group seats, your group leader will be sent a group link to register and pay for the seats. The group leader will need to transfer each seat to the LANREG account of the person sitting in the seat prior to registration going live to the public. This is a requirement in order to keep your seats. Your rank is also given a +1

Ranking System:

  • For each event your group buys tickets, you receive +1 to rank. (July / Nov / Feb / VecLAN)
  • For each event your group tries to register as a group, and does not get in, you get +1 to rank

Ranking Notes:

  • Rank is never decremented.
  • Other groups can rank up above you if they are more active.
  • New groups would have a rank of zero, but we are no longer taking new groups.
